Juxtaposition: When Action is a Negative, or Inaction is a Positive.
"What is wrong with you?": Pascal and Milton weigh in!
A juxtaposition:
Two things viewed in relation to each-other because they are placed beside each-other.
Two items thus juxtaposed can complement each-other, like a pair of writers from different centuries who found the same conclusion—but with wording or reasoning that differs wildly! Or they may mostly contrast each-other—until you stare at them for a time.
I -love- weird, ironic, or amusing juxtapositions.
“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in his own room.”
—Pascal, “Pensées”
“They also serve who only stand and wait.”
—Milton, “When I Consider How My Light Is Spent”
